Shatner exposes Raw Nerve to Star Trek 'snub' - TV & Radio - Entertainment

You don’t have to be a Trekkie fluent in Klingon to be aware of the public stoush Shatner has engaged in with Hollywood golden boy, JJ Abrams, the director of the new Star Trek film, which after another bumper weekend has earned $US260 million ($A332.27 million) worldwide since landing in theatres two weeks ago.

Abrams cast the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy, in the blockbuster.

Shatner was snubbed.

Bill. This isn’t a TJ Hooker remake. You can’t just play Kirk’s dad or something.

You’re a thousand years old. In each of the two time periods in the movie, your character is either long dead or young (and Chris Pine looking). At most you’d have a day’s work in some Spock Prime flashback/dream/mindmeld. And you know what I heard (from Kevin Pollak on his show)?

You were offered that cameo and walked because you wanted the same cash/billing as Nimoy, for a day’s work.

Go write another Tek War book. You’ve got time, Boston Legal ain’t coming back.
