iPhone On 3? They Want It As Much As You Do
I have a theory.
A couple of months ago, Apple calculated that to offer a network the iphone, the carrier needed 10% marketshare or more. They then pull up wikipedia and offer Vodafone, Optus and Telstra the iPhone.
Telstra ask to have Whereis and Bigpond Music integrated into the iPhone. Apple tell them to fuck off.
Optus and Vodafone win. 3, with its whopping 56% or population 3g coverage and notorious network dodginess, fails. Yeah, they’ll get it eventually - but it’ll tack on to Telstra’s iPhone fortunes - 3’s current network is heavily tied to a Telstra partnership.
