These are rated purely on my enjoyment level on each film and nothing else. Frankly I’m surprised by how many sequels were better than the original. And I’m not surprised that the 3rd movie is never the best.

I (mostly) agree with Dan, apart from the important distinction that Star Treks 2, 3 and 4 are the trilogy. To paraphrase Kevin Smith, Star Trek: The Motion Picture is just money shots of the Enterprise. In this configuration, The Search for Spock would be a the slightly disappointing middle child.
Also, Temple of Doom should be well below Last Crusade and Spiderman 3 should have a negative value.
